Dr Dominic Deane Senior Researcher | Creative Practitioner | Educator


Dr Dominic Deane works at the intersection of inclusive research, media production, sound, and creative pedagogy. He develops inclusive, evidence-based resources and media that support neurodiverse participants, grounded in accessibility, lived experience, and collaborative approaches.

With over 20 years of experience across music, film, multimedia, and education, Dominic bridges creative practice, research, and teaching. He has taught at the University of Leeds, Leeds Beckett University, Leeds City College, Arts University Plymouth, and Spirit Studios, Manchester. His PhD research explored DIY and indie live music scenes in Leeds, published internationally and presented at conferences across Europe and Australia.

As a musician and sound practitioner, Dominic has recorded, performed, and toured internationally. He has played in multiple bands, promoted gigs, and run a DIY record label. His work has been featured by the BBC, Channel 4, E4, The Guardian, The Independent, and Electronic Sounds, with film and sound credits at Leeds International Film Festival, London Fringe, and The Exeter Phoenix.

At the Phoenix Art Centre, Exeter, Dominic delivers bespoke Adobe Creative Cloud courses and leads film practice masterclasses and workshops, mentoring emerging filmmakers through practical projects.
